    Same here Nanny Beach. If I'm gardening then he sees it as his duty to garden too. The only thing is he thinks that anything that is lying on anything horizontal is his so trowels, hand forks, mobile phone etc are buried under bark, under a shrub.

    They are as likely to decide to eat slugs and snails as plants and that can be far more harmful to them. If you can find a way to eradicate slugs and snails from your garden, I suggest you get it patented, double quick - you'll make a fortune. But more probably, in the early weeks, you need to be watchful and quick with the 'ah-ah' or 'no' or (in an emergency) deploy the Voice of Doom for a little while until they've learned the ground rules. Then, as Dove says, as they grow up they become the best gardening companions.
