Goodness me you have been busy @Jenny_Aster
I'm really looking forward to seeing what production is like. Do you have drainage holes or does the water seep away through the bags?

Thank you @Lizzie27 and @Uff

The bag material is porous, which does cause a problem as they dry out rather too quick. I'm hoping that as the bags are set really close together they'll help keep each other from drying out. The sides of the exposed bags that are 'on view' to the fresh air, a sheet of plastic has been inserted between the exposed sides and wire to help slow down moisture loss. In the compost I've added pearlite to help with drainage and vermiculite to help retain moisture. The tops of the bags planted have a thin layer of vermiculite as a sort of mulch.

I love playing around, thinking how to make life a bit easier, sometimes I know I overstep the thin line between being sensible and batty  ;)

Amazing. I love your inventiveness and agree with you, experimenting is good and I think it's what makes gardening more enjoyable. I really hope that your project is successful.
