Water feature - Clear water granules

Hi all, I did a search before posting and couldn't see this topic asked as such. So here goes. I have a bowl type water feature in my front garden and the bowl keeps turning green with algae. I was watching a gardening program yesterday and they added some granules to the water which are wildlife friendly and makes the water darker to inhibit the algae. The presenter said you only need to treat the feature with these granules once or twice a year.

Question is, does anyone know what these granules are called so I can buy some?

Thanks for reading.

Google for aquatic garden supplies and you should find black liquid for water features and maybe also the granules tho I've never come across those here.

Dyofix and Tetra are 2 brands that come to mind.
