Peat free seed compost?

    Seeds, in general, don't need much to germinate and get going. It's after they're pricked out and potted on that the medium is more important IMO.   :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Been watching a vid on youtube about a guy who only uses washed sand to germinate seeds, and with good results, it does make me think  :o
    Trying to be the person my dog thinks I am!

    The problem is,  composts vary batch to batch, the Which trials often highlight this. A brand can do really well one time and be poor a year later.  Unfortunately with peat free, this variability seems to have got worse.  I have  found Melcourt one of the best but it didn't come out that high in the latest trial.  I use MPC,  but "dilute" with some sand and perlite.

    I'm a fan of the dalefoot wool compost for seeds! Lovely and fluffy! I do want to try that grochar one though, maybe this year. 

    I ended up buying westland seed compost this year as I didn't want to spend the money to order online and it's crap, couldn't quite believe how crap!!
