Seeds to sow now/Feb/March

TheGreenManTheGreenMan Posts: 1,957
Hi.

I’ve been given a heated propagator and I’m not sure what to grow in it and when.

Are there any seeds (flowers - annual or perennial) that I can start off now (or in February) to plant out in my south facing front garden in Spring?

I’ve tried googling but, inevitably, I end up with lots of results for seed companies and my brain melts.

Any recommendations would be, as always, very much appreciated.

There are several perennials that would benefit from a early sowing, not so much because they take ages to germinate but because they are more likely to flower in the first year. The main thing is having the space to grow them on,.
Off the top of my head, Verbascum, Agastache and Verbena bonariensis are ones l have had success with, depending on the weather l usually sow in early March. I wouldn't sow any earlier than at least mid February, especially living where you do  :).
I am in the South West, so a few degrees milder, generally speaking .

Cosmos was the first one that came to mind. Mine didn't flower until VERY late last year, so I'm going to start them earlier this year.
