Ants in my .......lawn

I am sure this has been discussed on the forum in the past. For many years I've had problems with red ants in my lawn. I have just been moving turf to form a new border and found thousands of them with eggs. Does treating them just send them else where?

I think the basic answer is yes @GardenerSuze. You could try nematodes in warmer weather, but quite honestly when you consider the number of ants in any one garden it's virtually impossible to eradicate them.
I know if there are many ants in pots or in amongst plant roots it's generally considered to be because the compost/soil is very dry, possibly the same applies to lawns ?

The lawn can be dry in high summer. Will look at the possiblity of nematodes when the weather is warmer. Thank you
