Tiny tiny eggs

Please help identify these tiny white eggs.  They are smaller than snail eggs I've seen before.  I found them in the saucer under a plant outdoors, a few days ago.

That looks like slow release food  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • They're a lot smaller, and I haven't used any.

It's often present in compost though.  :)

Ant eggs are oval, could be slugs about to hatch.

Are they hard or soft and squidgy?  What happens if you squash them ...

  • They're hard, which makes me think if they are eggs, they are no longer viable.  I've seen slug eggs in soil/compost before but never in the saucer under the plant.
