He got me these boots in a size 4. K

I usually take a 3 in a shoe but these are fine, not too sloppy, although if I wanted I could wear a pair of slightly thickish socks.

    Very nice 🙂. Thank you
Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

I'm not sure how the ethics of manufacture applies when you buy things second hand.  I buy very few clothes new, just underwear occasionally, and patronise charity shops for clothing and household items.  To me, where it was originally made matters less than that I'm giving it an extra life, though I'd still prefer not to buy Primark even from a charity shop.

It's unsurprisingly even harder to buy things made in Ireland, apart from locally manufactured soap and craft items.  However, I did notice the tin of Dulux paint I bought this morning so OH could finish painting the skirtings, was made in Ireland.  :)

@pansyface. Maybe he thought you'd grow into them. My mum bought me a HUGE school coat. I doubt it would fit me even now.

I think a lot of pharmaceuticals are made in Ireland - or they were. Probably moved east now.

I’ve just been checking my favourite clothing brands and I seem to be supporting the economy of East Anglia.

Yarmo for smocks and shirts - Norfolk
Carrier Company for trendy workwear - Norfolk
Gurteen for smarter occasions - Suffolk
Darcy for living in the 1950s - England
Uskees for everyday wear - India but the company has very high ethical standards. They even offer a free repair service.
    Rutland, England

My dear grandmother once knitted a beautiful jumper for my 4 year old with Postman Pat and his black and white cat on it. It was so huge that it would probably fit now and he's 44. (Actually he would probably wear it now if I still had it)

I think you're right about the pharmaceuticals, @B3 .  That's the reason we can't buy, for instance, generic unbranded paracetamol but have to pay through the nose for the Irish version.  I'm trying not to get a headache...
