growing-heuchera-from-seed

Hi all I have some Heuchera seeds I'm going to grow but haven't grown these before. i have read that you don't cover them as they like the light, does that include Scattering the top with gravel to stop them being taken by the wind etc? Any help appreciated

I've only ever germinated these indoors and used a (very) thin layer of fine-grade vermiculite to keep them damp but let light to the seeds (which are like dust!)

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Oh joy maybe indoors is a good idea... I have got a mist spray to keep them damp

Good luck with them Stacey - I found them challenging and only about 3 or 4 out of a whole packet germinated (T&M mixed hybrids - they no longer seem to stock those..)  I've had better luck with seed collected from my own heucheras though - but probably because I had 100 times as much seed! image
