Morning everyone, It seems darker this morning and looks chilly outside. The branches of the oak tree are swaying. Aww, @bluebellsintherain bet your kitchen smells lovely after making some baguettes. Hope you had a better nights sleep. @Chivetalking how lovely that you had an afternoon with your brother, sister and mum. Bet she loved having you all together. And a new furry friend for your brother, has he named him/her yet......or is the cat not young enough to change it. 🐾🐾 Have a lovely knit and natter day @Ladybird4 Good that you tested negative @Dovefromabove hope you get well soon. Hope @Ante30 is feeling better, didn't see him yesterday. And hope @Yviestevie and family are well too. Not seen her for awhile. Best wishes if you're looking in. I'm going to see a friend this morning for a catch up too. So see you all later. Have a good day everyone
Morning @Rubee you weren't there just now. 🙋🏻♀️ Sorry @debs64 missed you too. Hope you have a smooth and peaceful day at work and customers are kind .
Morning Dove, Rubee & SGL, Glad your throat is feeling better Dove and the PCR test came back negative that was a relief for you 😅 Rubee You’ve got some nice plants for your garden, I love Primulas, SGL Enjoy a good catch up chat with your friend today 😊 The cat has a name from the foster home he is with at the moment, but I think this might change 🙂 Hope you had fun at your sons yesterday Hazel celebrating his step daughters birthday 🎉
RosieBB, those baguettes sound delish! I love them when they are all fresh and crispy with cheese, ham and salad - very yummy.
Morning Chive, Dove, Ruby and SGL. Ooh Chive, how very exciting for your brother - a little kitty cat. We would love all the details when you get them. Name, colour, age etc.
Hope you feel better soon Dove. SGL, have a lovely natter with your friend too today. My neighbour's partner has now finished the fence and I am so pleased with it. I am going to have a word with neighbour's son when weather improves to see if he would like to earn some pocket money by painting it for me. She was telling me he is at a bit of a low ebb at the moment, his long term girlfriend and he have split and he has his final exams at Uni looming. I won't be offended if he declines but hope, if he accepts, it helps to give him something less mentally taxing to do.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning all. Nothing much to report here other than I'm due to get a haircut today - much needed.
M/home is still in the workshop waiting for parts to arrive from Italy. We have no real idea how long it will take. Would 'normally' be about a week to 10 days but these are not normal times in many ways.... Also feel like I'm going round in circles chasing the electric chainsaw refund. The 'girls' I speak to at the company are lovely but the company received the returned item last Thurs and only got round to looking at it yesterday because I was chasing them. Even now they're stalling on giving me the refund I am legally entitled to. 'The buyer needs to see it to identify the fault...' Poor service IMO.
LB - Good to hear you now know which energy company you'll be with but who does cheques and cash anymore when they have a bank account? Guess I might get a better idea today whether or not we made the right call in September fixing our electricity tariff for 2 years. We'll have paid more than the standard variable rate for the 6 months to April 22 but it sounds as though we'll be paying less for the 18 months after that. The 2 year fixed rate available after the one we chose is nearly twice as much😧 Fuel poverty is going to be a real problem I think.
Enjoy your day out - you too SGL.
Rosie BB - you've got me fancying a freshly baked still-warm roll with lots of butter now. That used to be a Sunday morning treat when Dad would drive down to a bakers who opened for just an hour on Sunday morning to sell his fresh bread and rolls. Long gone.
Chive - lovely to hear about your brother's cat. Oliver from next door comes to see me most days now for an hour or so. I suspect he's a cat who'd be happier as a solo rather than one of four cats. Apparently he's not often indoors at home - too much competition for attention and he likes a lot!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Running-around-a-field duties were uneventful yesterday. No rain, not cold and the glass back just about survived so all good . Got notified of another game that I'm appointed to on Sunday so more hot baths will be required! Not sure my attempts to retire are going well
I'm late here today because the man came to install a Linky, Smart Meter. Electricity was cut off for a bit. He was booked for this afternoon but he said they told him anytime. Lucky I heard the bell for the electric gate. Did some waving about with a yellow cloth and a tin of something that smelt of wax and honey while he was here.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Chive I’m glad you had a lovely catch up with mum, brother and sister. It will be interesting for you to find out about your brothers new furry resident. LB enjoy your visit with bestie today. Top bird good memories of your dad. LB I had some baguette with cheese and apple and pear chutney. Dove it’s good you’re on the mend. Hazel sorry to hear 23 has been poorly and lost weight. I hope he can gain some weight and feel better soon. Busy it was quite grey hear this morning. I did a mini sm shop just to get some food for the weekend. Back fora cup of tea. Visited mum and dad who hadn’t slept well.
Afternoon All, looking very much like it wants to rain the sky is a heavy grey mass, LB I promise I will fill in all the blanks😊 Your new fence sounds good and I think that’s a brilliant idea to offer your neighbours son the task of painting it when the weather permits. I do hope he accepts this as it will give him some purpose & take his mind off his troubles, Topbird Sorry to hear that the motor home is still with the workshop awaiting parts and you’re still awaiting a refund on the electric chainsaw, very frustrating on both counts. Your neighbours cat Oliver sounds like he enjoys his visits as much as you do 😽 I hope your haircut goes well today, Oh dear Biglad duty keeps calling, Hazel Sorry to hear 23 has been poorly with a stomach upset, hope he is soon back to his usual self. Hope all goes well with the window surveyor and SM delivery this afternoon, Busy Crumbs first they arranged the wrong day for the engineer and now the time to arrive changed, but atleast the job is done now.
Bluebells Sorry to hear your mum & dad hadn’t slept well I’m sure your visit was a nice treat for them, hope they have a better night tonight. That chutney sounds delicious 😋

Grey and mild here today and so is the weather

A ham 'n' cheese baguette would be lovely thanks
Poor little 23, I hope he's better soon.
