Red aglaonema advice

Had these aglaonema a couple of years now - they’ve only ever had a maximum of 11-12 leaves, often some go soft soggy yellow and just pull away put new growth appears. They haven’t been in direct light and I don’t over water at all, if anything under water - but leaves never go crispy. Not sure what to do with them. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you 😊I think two stems in the second pot are definitely gone 😔

Not a houseplant l've ever grown, so bumping this up hoping that there's someone out there who does and can advise.
@GardenerSuze I’ll try doing that today and post another photo - thank you 😌
The way you describe the leaves going yellow and mushy and then coming off, sounds exactly like mine did when they were over watered. They seem quite drought tolerant and I tend not to water until the leaves start to droop a little now and that seems to keep them happy. If you water when the top inch or so of compost is dry, keep them away from heat sources and drafts, then the happier one might perk up a bit.
they are both in lounge away from direct light and drafts… the less good one was actually better than the other for some time but then not sure what happened. That one is a near a radiator. I wonder if they’ve got too dry in the winter months with the fire on too…
I’ll have a look at the roots later as suggested earlier and let’s see 😬🤞 x
