Apple tree with branches curved downwards.

I have this well established  apple tree which fruits very well every alternate year. About 6 of the branches are curved downwards which seems a bit odd to me. What could be the cause of these curved down branches, and is it a problem?

    After pruning a fruit tree in winter, my father-in-law weights down the branches by tying either a rock or a plastic bottle half filled with water so that the branches bend downwards and it is easy to pick the fruit such as cherries or plums!
    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

     I should just carry on as normal. Probably an age thing- bent & twisted and losing aesthetic appeal but still able to produce. The Apple tree is no different either.  :D

    It's what mature qpple trees do ... it can be a tendency of some varieties more than others ... I think it's attractive and nothing to worry about.
