    Thanks. I looked up Astrolabe but none of them were shown as constructed like that.

    The armillary and plinth are usually separate Palustris. See mine. We bought them to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The sandstone plinth was bought separately from the brass (would you believe) armillary. They come in all sorts of designs and shapes.

    They are lovely Hostafan. I must clean mine, it hasn't ever seen a drop of Brasso.

    every one is marked with special dates( childrens' birth dates etc ) but also special places around the central ring, arrow pointing towards them with their distance in miles.
