Are these Spanish Bluebells

  That's difficult to tell without seeing the flowers although in my experience wild bluebells are usually round.

  Very likely to be spanish bluebells. Sometimes mine look like that when I do the annual dig-up-as-many-as-I can-get-at operation.

  Thank you for replies. I think I will pull up as I don't want to be overrun with them, if they are Spanish Bluebells. In that area the only bulbs planted are Alliums. Do have a problem with Squirrels at the moment but don't suppose they would plant three bulbs close together

  I would not expect Spanish bluebells to be so tall mid January.

  I used to live in South Wales would not expect any bluebell to be so strong in Jan.

  In my experience Spanish bluebell leaves are more ‘splayed out’ by the time they reach that size … which would not be for a couple of months yet even in a sheltered spot. 

  What have you planted in that border?  Anything you might not recognise?
