I saw and took more interest in Heuchera, Heucherella and Tiarella last year and bought quite a few to brighten up a shady spot beneath a small tree. They look lovely and i became addicted bought more for other areas in the garden. here are a few of them Fire Alarm,Lime Marmalade.Paprika, Wildberry, Silver Gumdrop,Amber waves,Alabama Sunrise. Just to name a few, Zipper.Rio.
Thank you all for your responses, and sorry so many have the same problem especially with the Lime marmalade. Fairygirl i think i will do as you did and see what happens.by digging it up and putting in a pot.Thank you for the kind offer. I would appreciate that Thank you
Bob The Gardener, so sorry to hear about your aquilegias. They are such a beautiful flower also.. I may also try taking a cutting to see what happens, but thinking about it would it be a case of 'whats in the trees comes out in the branches' Worth a try
I do 2 things with my heucheras. Both by accident initially until I noticed the improvement.
I put some in terracotta pots and sink the pot a few inches in the flower bed. It keeps the crowns slightly drier and less prone to rotting.
I have a few planted directly into the beds and I regularly look under the leaves and remove any straggly or shrivelled bits lying on the soil. Makes it easier for air to circulate under the top growth.
