@LeadFarmer Do your self a favour and get this as the price GreenhouseSensation charge for replacement capillary matting is rather expensive. You wont need it the first year as your order will come with enough capillary material for each pot, but for subsequent years get it bulk online at you know where
Good advice, thanks, I'll buy some of that matting.
Can the supplied matting be reused the following year, or is it single use only?
@LeadFarmer I suppose you could try reusing them but, I've found there so strewn with roots growing through them and worn and tattered that its not practical to try and reuse them.
You would need to disinfect the old matting first anyway before reuse. I just don't think its practical to reuse them.

Oh just one other thought where is your temp probe? I push mind into a plant pot filled with compost so the 20 degrees I set it to is the soil temp
@TheVanguard I spoke with Greenhouse sensation about this when I bought mine and they said: " Its an air temperature sensor so should hang inside the unit."
But if that works for you...

You’re right! I’ve just checked the instructions and it says not to insert in soil!! Still it seems to be suffering no I’ll effects, and it’s worked for me all this time!
@TheVanguard. If I can butt in for a moment, which LED lights do you use? The Sunblaster ones get very hot indeed! Agree too re the suckers for the lights.
@LeadFarmer I’ve used that company and find they’ve been excellent. Good customer service and promptly sending out another lid when the one that came with mine seemed to have arrived bowed.
Don't know if you've got dodgy bulbs in your Sunblasters, but mine are so cool I can put my finger on them and hold it there with no problem.
What? I couldn’t put my finger on mine and hold it there! Anyone else have coolish Sunblasters? I spoke to Greenhouse sensation about them being so hot and therefore raising the interior temperature quite a lot and they advised opening the vents!
@TheVanguard ..thank you for the link, I’ll look into those. If I understand correctly you use those across the top in the same way as you would the Sunblasters for after germination has taken place?
@LeadFarmer There what came with the unit when you order from Greenhousesensation if you order with lights. There Sunblaster T5 grow lights which is what I use.

All of my Sunblaster T5s are super hot. I have bought them from various suppliers...
I wish one could buy stands for them. (Not looked this year, but it wasn't possible in the UK last year.) I had a ridiculous set up for ones not used with the Vitopod. (Located in a glass-roofed lean to down the side of the house and not terribly feasible to add hooks from the ceiling.) I don't have the equipment or room or nous to make any.

Super hot they are not >>> Sunblaster T5 lamps – Bright, cool & super-efficient
They are designed to get close to the plants to maximise the light whilst giving off minimal heat
If yours are, you have a problem with your suppliers . The Sunblaster website is here and you may find something more suitable from their new range
