When should I move or cut back these plants

HortusHortus Posts: 43
In the spring, probably April, I will be replacing my shed for one that isn’t falling apart. At the same time I will replace the fence that runs alongside and behind it.
Currently I have several plants that are along the edge of the shed namely a Trachelospermum jasminoides, honeysuckle, dicentra, Callicarpa bodinieri Profusion. My question is as they will all need to be moved for the installation, shall I dig them up now when dormant or can I do it on in April. Should I cut these plants back or will the shock of moving and cutting be to much for them.
Sorry for the lengthy post!

As @pansyface says - the size/maturity of them will determine how easy it is. If they're big - like the honeysuckle for example, you'll have to cut them back to make it easier. It won't harm them, but you'll have to accept that they'll take time to recover and flower.

However, if they have to be moved, this is a better time to do it rather than April, when growth is underway. The dicentra is easy, and you can use the move to split it as well, if it's a mature plant.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thank you very much. So it seems that I need to do this now!
