Help finding a rose.

Hi all,
I am looking for a rose similar to one that my friend has. It is a large dense rose bush with very small glossy leaves and small deep pink flowers, it flowers endlessly through summer till November and doesn't need to be deadheaded. The version that my friend has is about 4ft tall at the moment. We have no idea of the variety but I would love to try and find one. The nearest I can find is the pink rose flower carpet... I say that because that bush seems to have a brown rim around the outside of the leaf. The cuttings that I have taken have the same brown rim but that might be down to my poor cutting skills. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to see if I can purchase something similar. Many thanks.  <3

It will help if you can share pics of the blooms, leaves, stems and of the whole plant from a distance. Which part of which country are you in?

It sounds to me very like Rosa ‘Bonica’.  I’ve grown it in three gardens and it never fails to delight me. It flowers all summer non-stop and is still flowering in my garden now, has glossy green leaves and never seems to get any of the rose diseases like blackspot.
It’s only drawback is that it’s scent is quite delicate … but it has so many good points, I can forgive it for that.

The pictures above are from my garden last summer.

  • Wonderful! thank you. I will definitely try this one. I'm open to other suggestions as I have quite a large space and there is very little colour even though there is good structure. I'm looking forward to spring....hopefully just around the corner now. Kind regards B)
  • @fire we are in the Staffordshire, I didn't take photos.... silly of me really but I will remember to do this in the future

I have a deep pink/red Flower Carpet, it's about 4-5ft tall and fits your description. It's a stronger colour than Dove's but is not fragrant at all.

@Dovefromabove what are those gorgeous clematis you have with them? Is that Astra nova in the vase? I want it!

Yes, well spotted 😊 . Isn’t it gorgeous… and goes so well with Bonica 😊

Oooh thank you! Ive been eying that one for ages and seeing it with Bonica that swings it!! Ive got a similar coloured pink that'll go nicely.
  • Hi all, this photo was taken today, possibly not helpful as its not in flower but as you can see still lovely and glossy, even in Jan and one little bud braving the winter sun. I will be trying all of your suggestions...thank you
