cutting bacon winter

I have a few bushes and plants I need to move in my border.e.g  .Hydrangeas . However due to mild weather ( other than this last week) all my plants  producing new leaves . I'm in a quandary to know if I can cut them back and move the plants now.  I wouldn't do this at this time of year normality but everything is growing  and not dormant you would expect in January Any advice (I live in the Gower  and by the sea.)

You might get away with cutting them back. It isn't ideal, but if there's new growth, and you're concerned about frosts, you can always fleece them, depending on how many you have etc.
Or accept that they may get damaged -  most will grow back again, depending on what they are. Hydrangeas certainly will, but flowering will just be delayed   :)
