Dwarf/patio fruit trees in pots

I bought two dwarf/patio fruit trees which are supposed to grow in pots.  I planted them in a large pot which I then hurried/planted in a deep raised bed  asI did not want them to spread too much - the raised bed is 75 cm deep.  I recently tried to take the tree out of the pot to put it back into the raised bed without a pot, but the roots had already grown through the pot hole at the bottom.  Should I leave them in the pot to curtail their growth as I do not want to grow too big and spread deep routs - the garden is very small.  When I bought them the blurb said that they were supposed to stay small in a pot, but mine seems to have other ideas.  Any advice would be welcome.

Better to cut off the pots, although do you mean they're both in the same pot? That won't be suitable at all.
If they're dwarf specimens, they'll be on dwarf rootstocks, which keeps them smaller. A 75cm bed will be fine - assuming it has reasonable dimensions overall, and has the right soil for the tree.
Of course, the word 'small' is subjective.  You wouldn't be able to fit both of them in it unless there's adequate room for the crown of the trees. A photo would help with advice though. :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • sorry meant to say one dwarf fruit tree is in one pot, which has then been sunk in one raised bed. :)

It should be fine if you cut the pot off and plant it, assuming the bed is generally big enough, as I mentioned   :)
