Too late for a green manure

Morning. Any advice on whether to start a green manure now? Is it too late, and if not, which one to go for? Thanks

    I'd have thought it was too late, but perhaps in warmer areas it would be ok. 
    I sowed one in October 2014 when I was prepping for a new lawn, because I felt it would be better than bare soil. It only germinated a little bit. 

    I'm afraid I can't remember which  one it was though . I picked it because it was one that would germinate later in the year, in cooler temps.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    The problem with sowing a green manure too late is that not all (if any) of the seeds germinate when you want them to … but when the season moves on and the soil warms up, then it germinates and your green manure grows amongst whatever it is you have planted/sown later 🙄 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
