I too like to "pot on" as like others have said room is at a premium.
Starting two/three to a pot,  potting on the ones I remove, and to me most importantly burying them up to the first set of leaves each time, means a healthy plant in April/May to put in the cold greenhouse. The ones not potted on as much ( there is usually a slow grower) end up with trusses higher up the plant, meaning less overall trusses per plant, as there is only so much room for them to grow in in height.
  • Down here in Cornwall I cannot grow tomatoes outside as blight is endemic. With the weather pattern changes it seems to be getting worse. My daughter lost her entire crop of tomatoes in her greenhouse last year. I managed to keep mine going, but only just.
