Delphiniums

Do young Delphinium plants kept inside in winter die back or should they stay green.

They would normally die back, but they may stay quite green in warmer areas.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I would think they would die right back like most herbaceous. I’m looking to add one or two next year to the back of a border.
  • Beware that slugs love them though... I'm hoping mine would still come back next spring...

I don't grow them any more for that reason @msqingxiao - too much bother.

  • I love delphiniums but have given up growing them because the tiny black keel slugs which live under the surface of the soil eat them before they show through the soil in Spring. Tney love the tender new white growth before it turns unfurls and turns green. I tried putting slug pellets down in Dec. which helped but as the plants increased on size the slugs soon found the new growth.
