When to prune a climbing hydrangea , it’s on a garage brick wall, Essex,well established. Thanks !

    Prune it after it has flowered. If you prune it now you won't get flowers next year.

    As @Busy-Lizzie says, prune immediately after flowering or you’ll have no flowers next year. 

    There is no need for regular pruning … just what is needed to prevent it from becoming too bushy or outgrowing it’s allotted space. 😊 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Don't prune them to heavily either as even if you do at the right time it might take a few years to get flowering well again. They also tend to flower better higher up so if you prune the bottom it won't regrow lower down as well and will look a little unbalanced.
