Quite so @pansyface. As some of you know I volunteer at Capel Manor. The senior gardener I work with specialises in Japanese style pruning. Another volunteer has joined us he had already set up as a gardener, but wants to learn the basics of this work. They were saying today how they can go to houses that are worth millions, but the owners, say things like " I have bought a job lot of cheap plants, to do a new border what can you do with them?" or they are called in to sort out some grossly overgrown shrubs, but when it's explained that it will take several visits a year and several years to do they loose interest.
How very odd that there's been absolutely no news on the North Shropshire by-election so far.
I thought it was banned for the media to report on elections while the polls are open. Which is why we get photos of dogs at polling stations during general elections - nothing else they can say? I imagine we'll get the exit poll figures just after 10pm

Last time I went to the hairdresser she charged £30.00 an hour. I wouldn’t pay £150. Per week to have the grass cut. That’s if they could do it in three hours. They’d need to run.

Where practical work is concerned, the customer is willing to pay the cost of materials plus the lowest hourly rate that they can get away with. Payment for the skill involved is not a factor. Yet, a bottle of wine cheap materials, but they are willing to pay top dollar for the skill of the oenoligist

Not odd at all. There is a ban on reporting during polling times and that now continues until 10pm. The result won't be announced until some time tomorrow.
That's my point @Lyn, he should be. People will pay a garage 2or 3 times that hourly rate. A properly trained gardener is just as skilled, but when people think its just "mow and blow" and are used to paying £15-20 per hour that's all they get.
My brother-in-law is a builder and he still only charges £20 per hour. We've been on at him for years to increase his prices but he thinks that rate is fair. Daft thing is he also complains that he's skint all the time. Somehow he doesn't make a connection between the price he charges and the state of his bank account.
I can see why students wish to type their exams. I once did long handwritten exam. I think it was about 3hours or so. About half an hour before the end of the exam, my hand cramped up and I was unable to finish it even though I knew the answer. Most frustrating!
I can certainly see benefits of typing, particularly as I'm a lefty and my handwriting at school was terrible. If clarity had been given as the reason I wouldn't have a problem, it's the implication that it's too much for the poor little snowflakes!
