A conundrum

I collected a lot of Hellebore seeds from one rather nice plant, sowed half of them in one pot and the other half in another. Same compost, same grit covering, same place in the frame. So why has one pot got superb germination and the none at all? The seeds are still in there so not been eaten.
Odd!

That's very odd, slightly more warmth for the germinating pot perhaps?

No, I scraped away the grit covering on the non-germinating pot to see if the seeds had been eaten and they are still in there.
    Very strange.
