I think it's a grape ivy, Rhoicissus. There was a huge one in an office where I used to work, but it was a long time ago so I'm going partly on memory, but in my house plant book there's one called Rhoicissus rhomboidea "Ellen Danica" which has leaves just like yours.
New name Rhoicissus rhomboidea Ellen Danica"..... Same plant I suggested above on 3rd dec as Cissus rhombifolia "Ellen Danica".....with pics. Common name grape ivy. Pics show the plant growing upwards unsupported. Apparently also goes under name Cissus alata as well.
I can't keep up with all the botanical name changes!!
I seem to remember our office grape ivy plant having some canes in, but the main stems were thick and strong, and quite woody. Maybe it firms up as it gets older - this one was taller than me (including the pot) so the plant was probably 5 foot and mostly self-supporting.
Whatever it turns out to be, it's a good bargain!
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
