Thank you for letting us know, it sounds as if that description of “impossible to kill” might be right!👍
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • I would buy another if it died, its the perfect plant for me. Tough and resilient, needs minimal care.

Good to know that you like the plant.  There’s also a dark leaved variety that’s quite attractive if you’re thinking of expanding your collection!

I like Zamioculcas zamiifolia, the glossy leaves are quite something. Apparently care is needed when touching the leaves, but I have not had any kind of allergic reaction. I water mine roughly 2x a month in the growing seasons.

The dark red one is ZZ Raven really lovely. I saw it at a nursery and asked if it was as easy as the green. They suggested I went with the green as it was a new plant to me.

I also have four different Sanseverias also very easy, prefer dappled light but can cope with full sun or shade and hardly any water.Recently added a new one to my collection,
it is only 8 inches high, a sold on sight moment. No idea what it's full name might be.
They are all spiky so watch them at eye level.

Humans have evolved via cave dwelling.  We don't notice how dark our rooms are, even in a sunny window.

Why don't you leave your blind up a bit in the daytime?  You can also buy specialised plant-growth spot lights.

I have never grown ZZ but I guess that every plant has a need to photosynthesise.  I have grown ferns, moth orchids and mind-your-own business in dark corners.  But I rotate them with a turn in a bright spot.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

ZZ plant is like broken glass in the mouth if eaten as per a post last year. Not a plant for small children.

I must be one of the few people who managed to kill a ZZ plant...
