Primula candelabra

My primula candelabra has been looking poorly  ever since I put it in the ground..moved it once and it still looked poorly but did get slightly  bigger..should I cut it back for winter or mulch it and persevere or give it up as a bad job!?

    I'd just leave it to settle down.

    Just to add, they like damp rich ground and ideal for bog gardens.

    Yes I did move it from full sun to shady boggy part of the garden but it didn't improve and looked even worse if anything..it didn't self seed and looks quite rubbish  now! Don't understand what I'm doing wrong!

    Primulas are very attractive to vine weevil - might be worth digging it up again if it looks really unhappy, and checking the roots for larvae...
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    I’m surprised there’s anything to see at all of your candelabra primula at this time of year. Mine due back totally in late summer/early autumn and reappear in the spring. 
    If it’s in a damp spot then I would just leave it be and wait for it to reappear in the spring.

    Just taken this pic of mine that I planted in the summer. Looking a bit sorry for itself but I'll tidy it up the next time I'm working out there.

    Mines bigger but flat to the ground! I may leave it to see how it goes..
