I thought you made a good point @Silver surfer, and just tried to amend my profile to add my home county as my location, but the computer said no. Apparently I’m not allowed to edit my own profile, which is an odd rule 😒. Who else would have a better right?
Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

I had the same problem which is why I added mine at the bottom...

That's strange Emerion, I've edited mine twice since I joined, the last time was yesterday when I added the bit about Derbyshire. I clicked the little cog at the top of the page on the right which brought up the screen shot below. The little red man with an arrow gives the option too.

Just tried to do it as you suggest.
The cog and the red figure both came up with...

    "Permission Problem

You don't have permission to do that."

    Really annoying.

I would make it compulsory.....even if members just put UK...or Essex.
I am not wanting the house and street or even town details.

I got "you don't have permission" too, so I added it at the bottom.

Heck this thread is really off topic now. In the Location box I've deleted the bit Derbyshire born and it let me. I'll put it back on in a moment

  • I’ve always known this as bilberry since living in the Wye Valley, SE Wales.  There’s loads of it here!

Sorry to go off topic again but...

I had the permission problem over and over again so gave that up as a bad job and changed my username instead.
A few days after I did this I tried again to add my location and it let me, no problems.
Now it’s really obvious I’m from Nottingham 😁.
    Nottinghamshire.
    Failure is always an option.

  • I admire your persistence.
    Well done SherwoodArrow   from  Nottinghamshire!
