Our undercounter fridge is also small @JennyJ but I have a walk thru pantry next to the kitchen so the space for a decent fridge and 2 freezers.   OH is about to bag all the free space in those for his horrid Brussel sprouts.

  • I think @Daisypic is in Wales (sorry if I got that wrong) so excessive heat will be much less of an issue than excessive damp. A cold room in the house will be fine, but the garage would be OK too in an airtight box to keep the damp out.

Yes JennyJ, I am in South Wales, definitely don’t get excessive heat but definitely get a lot of rain!

Next house at JennyJ? Ours is between the kitchen in the main house building and the annex which, I'm told, used to be a piggery. The joys of buying an ex farmhousein France.........

  • If you need to store seeds somewhere like a shed or garage which is a bit damp, inside your airtight plastic box you can include a few of those little sachets of dessicant which come with new shoes or electronic equipment, to make sure there's no residual dampness in the seeds.

Ours are thoroughly dried by laying them on trays on the airing cupboard/hotpress floor, after which they go in paper bags in the kitchen sideboard.
