Pellitory-of-the-wall

I think that's what this is?

It has appeared all along my back fence, behind other things. I was going to weed it out, but it's not getting in the way of anything so I've left it. Is this unwise, for any reason? I know it's supposed to aggravate asthma, but my asthmatic daughter doesn't venture as far as the compost heap end of the garden most of the time, and has left home during term-time anyway so I figured that wasn't a problem. I don't particularly want it to spread further into the garden.
Will I regret leaving it to do its own thing?

  • It's the pollen which is allergenic so it might be carried on the wind, I suppose... but it's a food plant for red admiral caterpillars, so might be worth keeping for that reason - though they like nettles, too, if you have any of those lurking anywhere.  I don't know if P-of-the-W is invasive and therefore if you'll be wishing you'd got rid of it in a few years...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I don't have nettles, even though I'd like some they just don't pop up! I'll keep it and think of the butterflies 🙂.
