Survey on wild introductions of beaver to England. Closing tomorrow.

If you have feelings about the introduction of beavers in to the wild, please check out the Defra survey below. The keystone species were hunted to extinction in England 400 years ago. 
This chance to have your say on bringing them back, ends tomorrow (Wed 17th Nov 21).

    We have a pair locally which were introduced this year. They have settled in well and already having an impact.

    I find the idea of beavers reducing flooding (by making upland catchment areas drain more slowly) very convincing. But I am slightly concerned they might cause flooding in lowland and urban areas. Translocating wild animals often works out in ways we didn't anticipate or want!

    Have a look on You tube at the heavy industrial machinery that is required to remove dams in the US and Canada!
