Erigeron young plants

Hi guys,

I did an autumn sowing of Erigeron and am now wondering if they'll be alright sitting in my greenhouse over the winter and then being planted out after the frosts in spring. I know they're hardy plants but I'm wondering if the new growth will not be quite able to hold up in hard frosts. Also, as they're deciduous, can I expect them to lose all the growth they currently have, even in the greenhouse, as it's what should normally happen if they were outside? Sorry for the questions. Thank in advance!

You’re right on all accounts,  plant out in Spring after all frosts,  they should be suitably acclimatised so you won’t need to harden them off.

  • my young erigeron are all outside and staying there over winter- I wouldn't classify them as seedlings though- more as young plants.

If I’d sown them in March I would have left them out but an autumn sowing,  I don’t think I would.
