    That’s fascinating @wild edges thank you. My son said the bee seemed to be trying to remove the mite that was on its head as it was rubbing it with its forelegs. 

    He was also interested that it seemed to ‘enjoy’ the sugary dregs of his coffee, going back for more. Hope caffeine is ok for bees … I know it can have quite dramatic effects on the web-weaving capabilities of spiders. 😉

    ... the same with hedgehogs or bats or most other wild animals, I imagine. It makes me itchy to think of it.

  • I read recently that some flowers have natural caffeine in their nectar,  so the bees probably do seek a stimulus from it.
