Plant identification

Hello, would anybody be able to help me identify what this plant is please.   Its appeared in the garden this year, and I have no idea what it might be and/or if I should remove it.   Thank you!

  • Could be Iris foetidissima.
If it is then it can stay but many people don't like the smell of the flowers.

It looks like that to me too, but much healthier than the ones in my garden!

I've never noticed a smell. I'll have to give them a good sniff next year.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Hello, thank you very much for these responses.   Agree, now I research, it looks like it might be, so I will leave it alone and see how it develops.

Mine appeared a couple of years ago and are now sporting rather attractive seed pods. The flowers are nothing to write home about and the scent doesn't waft - you'd have to bend down to sniff them.  I like the leaves so mine stay.
