Repotting my Boston Fern question

My Boston Fern is getting really large.  I would like to repot into a larger pot before it  suffocates.  It lives outside in the summer kitchen which can be closed off, but it is not insulated.  I'm reluctant to move it indoors (central heating does not agree with it) even in the bathroom.  It likes its spot where is.   As winter is coming I'm a bit worried about it getting a shock.  Our weather is fairly mild at the moment but nights are down to 6/7°C - is there a specific time of the year to do this?

Here is a snap!!

Thanks

I remember reading back in the ‘70s (in a book about caring for foliage houseplants) that the best time to repot them is in March, so that’s what I do … so far it’s worked.

So I think I’d keep it where it was last winter … and repot in March … 💡 or perhaps February as you’re further south …

    Good luck … that’s a very handsome plant 😎

Thank you @Dovefromabove  My gut feeling was to repot when the weather is going towards the warmer months, but looking on google, it didn't specify a particular time of the year.

He's a very handsome fellow indeed, that's why I am being careful.    I bought it 2 years ago as a small plant and it has really thrived.  Gets the morning sun and obviously likes where it is.  So no barbecues or wild afternoon teas for me this winter!!

    Again, thanks.

Thank you for that Samantha.  I repotted it last month but it had a rough winter.  I will see how it goes.
