my lucky bamboo turning yellow?

A couple of weeks ago:
I noticed that some of the leaves of my lucky bamboo were turning yellow and saw 1 stalk turn yellow and soft because of the fertilizer that my husband put (over-fertilized). So I separate it and cut the soft yellow part.
Thought Everything was good till after a few days saw the leaves turn yellow again so I decided to remove them from the soil and just put water (distilled) but still some leaves turning yellow until now. Then I noticed that the stalks have some brown spots on them (could it be a disease or something,
could it be the reason why my lucky bamboo turning yellow?)..I tried everything and I don't put them in direct sunlight..
I don’t know what to do anymore.pls help I don’t want them to die on me
