Red fungi

Can anyone ID this fungi please? The cap is about the size of a two pence piece and it's about 2in high. Growing in the open, no trees nearby, in grass on the edge of the beach, seen on Mull last week.

    Looks like a waxcap to me, probably Hygrocybe coccinea. Very common in fields & lawns.
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. 

    I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

    Thank you both. Having the ID I looked it up to find out more about it. I see that it's edible as are most of the wax caps, none being poisonous but one or two might cause nausea. That's great, another one under my belt, so to speak, I'll know what it is the next time I see one.
