How to over winter a banana in a pot

This year I bought a lovely banana  which is growing in a lovely pot. How should I over winter it? Should I cut off the leaves? Should I water it during the winter?Any help would be great.

How big is it,do you know what variety? Any chance of a picture
We put ours in a Frost free green house, it's usually water in the crown that rots and kills them off. We don't water it overwinter or cut the leaves. We cut the leaves off down to about a foot next march or April then it goes crazy

Depends where you're located, and what the climate is like, but most people move them indoors- greenhouse etc, and just leave them to die back as described by @Nanny Beach, as you would with a perennial outdoors.

@Hostafan1 grows them so he may be able to advise further too.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
