Duck weed in ponds

I have a smallish pond in our garden. In spite of my efforts at clearing it out, every year the surface rapidly becomes covered with duckweed which looks very unsightly (at least I think t does!). Is there some way of eliminating this duck weed?

If there is, I don't know it, @DWH. We use a little fishing net to scoop it out but we never get it all. I think little and often improves the appearance. There may be chemicals you can use but I don't like that sort of thing.
  • Simplest way is to use a net "pocket" on the end of a stick and rake it off tho perhaps you are already doing that.
Once you have it, it's not something you can eliminate completely as you have no control on how it is being brought in.  It doesn't particularly do any harm.and is often just a fact of having an open area of still water.
If you have other surface covering plants in the pond that may help.
