    No, I'm a big aubretia fan as well - we've tried it and it didn't take - probably not enough sun.

    It’s not tall, but we have Cotoneaster dammeri as an undemanding, evergreen cascading plant over some vertical oak sleepers in a north facing aspect. Covered in small white flowers in spring, and with bright red berries in autumn/winter. It can trail over a lot longer than in the photo, where I’ve kept the length in check.
