    That’s what I was thinking as well Dove, also Hot Chocolate is not a strong smelling rose, quite light.

    Good point regarding dates.  Fragrant Cloud has an outstanding scent, but, to my nose, Hot Chocolate's scent was strong not quite light as for Omori.  I think we often experience scents differently.

    It's a great time of year for hardwood rose cuttings.  Take long cuttings, 10-12" , prepare in the usual way and place in deep pots (clematis pots are ideal) with sand and gravel and a little compost. Use rooting compound if you have some. Water and check the moisture until winter really sets in and then forget about them until next spring. If you're lucky most will have rooted by then. I usually place mine hardwood rose cuttings in a sheltered spot against a south facing wall. In spring pot them up and the following year plant out.
