Ill looking Magnolia tree

edited October 2021 in Problem solving
Hello.
We've been in our house a year and this summer one of the main branches of our magnolia tree seems to have died. Can anyone advise on how we should remedy and any tips for future care? I'm a complete novice gardener so any help will go a long way. Thanks.

It certainly looks as if the trunk on the right has died @thevivereturnswJ5eGn5I . However, it isn't possible to determine the reasons from the photo.

Can you do some close ups, and especially of the base?  If it's in a compromised position in terms of how and where it's growing, it may simply be drought  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

If it was a grafted plant, a shoot from below the graft might have taken all the goodness and starved the top growth.
