How to delete a post?

Hi - I posted a question in the wrong category. I've now posted in the right one. How do I delete the original post? Sorry - a bit of a novice at this! Thanks!

    You can delete by using the edit button - which is in the top right hand corner of your post - a little black cog wheel [don't ask me why they chose that as the symbol!]
    You have just under an hour after your initial post to do it   :)

    Don't worry about the categories though - most of us just look at Recent Discussions, and don't take any notice of the category at all.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    It doesn't really matter too much which category you post in, but you have an hour to delete or edit a  post. Just click on the little cog symbol next to your post and delete the wording. 
    I think l'm right in saying that the box will remain but it will be blank.

    Sometimes, to make it work,  you need to put a full stop or any character in the box rather than leave it empty.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    You can click on edit then place it in your drafts, can delete from there.
    no take that back, you cant do that,  just tried 😀

    Ah - I tried editing it and removing all the text but it wasn't having it. Maybe I had left it too long. Hey ho - I will know for next time. Thanks for the advice all!

    I wondered why there are sometimes posts with just a dot.

    I'd guess that it's when the poster isn't sure how to delete a post so just adds a dot @Busy-Lizzie
