Strange occurrences

So after cutting the lawn yesterday, I've just woken to this. I seemed to have success with nematodes and now this. Something been having some fun overnight

    Poke a stick down the hole.  If it only goes a few inches it's likely to be a squirrel digging up someone else's nuts  ;) .... if it goes 8" or more it's more likely to be voles or similar ...

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
