Crocus Bulbs

I’m going to experiment this autumn by planting my hanging baskets with Crocus bulbs during October aiming to generate some early year colour in February / March ……. after flowering is complete how should I prepare and store the bulbs for use / re planting again next autumn ???

    Unless your hanging baskets are quite low down, you're not going to see the crocus. I have mine in shallow terracotta bulb dishes. I don't remove the bulbs, when they've Finnished flowering,they get tucked away out of sight. If you really want to do this. Wait till leaves/top growth has died off,you could do the same with any bulbs,clean the dirt off,put them in a paper bag, my bulbs go into the spare room wardrobe. It's too hot in the shed. But a cool shed, garage would do

    Just put them into plastic pots, or any spare pots, in any compost/soil, and tuck them somewhere out of sight until you need them. Label them though  ;)
    They're perfectly robust everywhere in the UK. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    You do need to let the leaves die back down if you are putting them somewhere out of the light. The leaves after flower help build the energy for next year's flowers.

    I'd probably plant the whole basketful into the garden where they can die down undisturbed and grow again in future years, and get new ones for the baskets if I wanted them again. Maybe a different colour.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
