Can anyone identify this plant which is currently flowering in my sister’s garden in Northern Ireland? Second photo shows the leaves. Thanks

Must be very mild where you are @Daintiness, for those to be growing outside all year round  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I'd never heard of it either, but looked it up when it was mentioned. If I have ever seen it at any point, and checked, I'd have dismissed it for growing here though. It would have to be lifted and brought inside by about October   :)

I've just realised it's not your garden, but I'm still surprised it's hardy enough in NI. Must be a very sheltered garden   :)

  • It must be sheltered as she put it in last summer and it has been in the soil since then. Her husband was given it as payment for a “wee job” he had done. He was told that it was a day lily…

Plant payments are good,  I’ve got a beautiful Magnolia given to me by my son in law for a job he did at Lanhydrock House. They said to him to take some plants, what ever he wanted.

Hearing about this Scarborough lily for the first time. Does anyone know how it differs from an amaryllis? They look very similar to me. Here is one of them (amaryllis) flowering in my patio now; the same six petal bloom, only the leaves have all disappeared for now.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)
