Help - I’ve grown brown jelly!!!

Can anyone tell me what this jellyish gunge is around my plants?! There’s loads of it in one particular area. It looks like the jelly off cat food 🤢. Happy to leave it if it’s a friend of the garden but it doesn’t look it is.

    Type of slime mould.

    Just a fungus, you could dig it in the ground. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    I always thought it was a type of fungus, but recently slime moulds have been removed from  that part of the plant kingdom.

    Wow @Pete.8 - they are amazing! I particularly like the ones encased in gold threads and the one that looks like an egg yolk dripping with the white - a sight bakers see often!

    Yeah mine doesn’t look like that. Still it’s good to have goals 😂

    Maybe yours just needs some encouragement 🤣

    Keep an eye on it, it may just be at an early stage - the weird and wonderful fruits may follw!
