A bit of antique nature. I found this oyster shell in the river after the recent rain and since it's miles from the sea I'm guessing this has washed out of an old tip along the river bank somewhere. It's quite worn so it's been washing about the river for a while. It could be Victorian or even earlier since oyster was a much more popular food back then and we eat different oyster species now. The holes in it would have been from when the oyster was still alive and made by a boring sponge. Now the shell is broken you can see how the sponge honeycombed the inside of the shell but didn't break through the mother of pearl layer inside. Sorry to anyone who suffers from trypophobia...
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
